For professionals & amateur athletes – The diversity of a diving watch

Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra

The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra is a perfect combination of tradition and innovation. As a solid diving watch, the Aqua Terra withstands a water depth of up to 150 metres and has stood out from the crowd since 2013. This is partly due to its innovative Co-Axial caliber 8508. The 231.10.42.21.01.002 reference -up to 1.5 Tesla (15,000 Gauss), is resistant to magnetic fields and therefore more robust than almost any other watch in the world.

Omega Seamaster 300 Professional Diver

The Omega Seamaster 300 Professional Diver is a worldwide star with a sporty elegance that exudes both design and functionality. Whether practical GMT function, chronograph or three-hand watch - the Seamaster 300 collection is available in various versions. Newer editions have also been equipped with the anti-magnetic co-axial caliber.

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean

Launched in 2005, the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean is one of the youngest models in the range. The watch is water-resistant up to 600 metres, has the co-axial escapement patented by Omega, and the innovative helium valve.

Omega Seamaster Railmaster

Once designed for engineers, scientists and railway mechanics, the Omega Seamaster Railmaster has become extremely popular with vintage enthusiasts. The Railmaster no longer appears in the Omega catalogue and can only be found on the pre-used market these days. At CHRONEXT, a large selection of Omega vintage watches at comparatively low prices is always available.

Omega Seamaster Ploprof

The Omega Seamaster Ploprof, launched in 1970, is a professional diving watch that is water-resistant to 1,200 metres. Whether you’re wearing a wetsuit or tuxedo, this model with its rotating bezel is always a stylish choice.

An investment that pays off

Although watches from Omega are not a classic "return watch", the price development of the Seamaster in the coming years can be classified as promising. The price of an Omega Seamaster rose by around 15 per cent between 2016 and 2018, for example. Had you paid CHRONEXT £2,070 for a Seamaster a few years ago, the average price was between £2,400 – 2,450 by 2018. The profit level is still manageable, but the value of an Omega Seamaster could easily increase in the future.

Of course, performance cannot be predicted. However, if you look to the past and then look at current developments in the watch industry, a price increase in the future is not unlikely. The high quality of Seamaster watches and the brand’s overall prestige also make a decisive contribution to this development.

A watch in every price range

Co-axial caliber vs. Quartz movement

Omega is known as a watchmaking perfectionist across the globe. The brand is further characterised by numerous COSC and METAS certifications. The Swiss manufacturer mainly uses mechanical calibers in the Omega Seamaster collections. The movements are equipped with the innovative co-axial escapement, which makes the watches much less sensitive to strong vibrations. A robust masterpiece, the co-axial assembly manages with less lubrication and produces less friction.

If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to the mechanical movement, the quartz models in the Omega Seamaster series are an excellent solution. The 28 millimetre Seamaster Diver 300 M for women, for example, is relatively inexpensive. Omega also equips some of the Aqua Terra 150 models with quartz calibers. Here, you will find classic watches for men as well as for women.

Historical review

Initially, the Omega Seamaster was designed as a functional dress watch for men with improved water resistance. However, this changed in 1955. The addition of an innovative rubber sealing ring ensured that a prototype of the Omega Seamaster withstood water depths of up to 62.5 metres for the first time when tested in Australian waters.

A year later, a Seamaster took the Douglas DC 6 on an unusual journey across the North Atlantic; the watch was attached to the outer skin of the aircraft.

In 1957, Omega launched the Seamaster Professional, which is still available in many versions and new interpretations. Since then, numerous professional divers have relied on Seamaster models inspired by the Royal Navy's elite unit Special Boat Service or the famous marine researcher Jacques Cousteau. Further models followed and each repeatedly proves the technical sophistication of Omega Seamaster watches.
