Rolex Cellini

The Rolex Cellini is a homage to timeless elegance. With its uncommon design and sophisticated appearance, this watch suits any wrist and pays tribute to the classicism of watchmaking. With the reinterpretation of the collection at the Baselworld Watch and Jewellery Show 2014, Rolex proved that it could pull off more than just sportiness when it comes to the Oyster line. The brand is equally as talented, when enchanting with elegant wristwatches as well.

Rolex Cellini

The brand with the crown and its Prince

The luxurious Rolex collection was named after the famous Italian goldsmith and sculptor, Benvenuto Cellini. He was active during the Renaissance and was one of the most important artists of his time.

The inspiration for the Rolex Cellini line came from traditional watchmaking practices, along with aspects of modern technology and aesthetics. The Cellini Rolex Prince harks back to the original Rolex Prince of 1928. The rectangular case of the wristwatch is reminiscent of the avant-garde style of the roaring ‘20s. The extravagant design of the watch is particularly enchanting, while its excellent precision stays true to the well established Rolex standard. The Rolex Prince enjoyed great popularity with worldwide watch enthusiasts well into the late ‘40s. When production of the watch was brought to a halt, the spirit of the Prince lived on, which can be witnessed through lofty prices on the second-hand market.

In an attempt to provide a classic alternative to the sporty Oyster collection, Rolex launched a number of Cellini models throughout the course of its corporate history. The Rolex Cellini Danaos, the Rolex Cellini Cestello, and the Rolex Cellini Quartz are no longer manufactured. They offer deep insight into the history of the legendary Rolex brand however, and are still available on the second-hand market.

Cellini Time, Cellini Date, Cellini Dual Time

A new chapter in the history of Rolex

In 2005, Rolex decided to revive the rectangular Prince. Treasured details like the manual wind calibre 7040, demonstrates the importance of history to the traditional manufacturer. The Rolex Cellini Prince (Ref. 54425, Ref. 54419, Ref. 54439) is manufactured exclusively from precious metals: yellow gold, white gold and Everose gold. The transparent case back allows the wearer to take a peek into the inside of the ornately crafted wristwatch. At the Baselworld Watch and Jewellery Show 2014, Rolex astounded once again by expanding the Cellini collection by three additional references: Cellini Time (Ref. 50505 and Ref. 50509), Cellini Date (Ref. 50515 and Ref. 50519), and Cellini Dual Time (Ref. 50525 and Ref. 50529).

The new Cellini wristwatches as well as the remarkable Prince are attractive alternatives to the Rolex classics like the GMT-Master II or the Datejust. With its high-grade workmanship and its first-class technology, the collection has found a way into the hearts of many watch enthusiasts.
