Watches for the nostalgic

Longines Heritage Collection – reminiscent of days past

The talented Auguste Agassiz, who located his workshop in the Swiss town of Saint-Imier, founded Longines in 1832. The company can look back on a unique success story – one that is full of milestones in the field of watchmaking. The Heritage collection recalls the company’s legacy. The original aesthetics of historic designs are combined with the watch technologies of the modern day, resulting in a wonderful effect. The renowned company with the winged hourglass logo has accompanied many pioneers in the field of aviation and geographic exploration. In fact, many Longines timepieces have drawn their inspiration upon navigational and nautical elements. The Heritage timepieces demonstrate the continuing success of Longines and present refined and classic creations that recall historic achievements. The unique Heritage Collection thereby immortalises the highlights of the company history.

Longines and the world of aviation

Watches worthy of pioneering achievements

The Longines Lindbergh Hour Angle Watch (Ref. L2.678.4.11.0) is one of the most famous timepieces available in the Heritage line. It remembers a unique watch from 1931 that was specially developed for the American pilot Charles Lindbergh – the first pilot to independently cross the Atlantic Ocean.

Another timepiece from the aviation world is the Weems Second-Setting-Watch (Ref. L2.713.4.11.0 and Ref L2.713.8.13.0), which is a reinvention of the original tribute to commander Philip van Horn Weems. Just as rich in history is the Twenty-Four-Hours Single Push-Piece Chrono (Ref. L2.797.4.73.0 and Ref. L2.797.4.53.0), which is a reinvention of the 1950s timepieces that were developed for Swissair Pilots.

The Longines Heritage Collection convinces with further highlights including the Heritage 1940 timepiece, which was launched in order to celebrate the 180th anniversary of the company. The Heritage 1940 impresses with a discreet design and an underlying retro feel. The model does away with unwarranted décor and surprises with a sleek aesthetic thanks to its large stainless steel case and slightly raised bezel. An optical treat is the white or black lacquered dial and transparent case back, which allow for a deeper insight into the watch movement.

Reliable and robust

Longines Heritage 1935

The Longines Heritage 1935 (Ref. L2.794.4.53.0 or L2.794.4.53.2) is based on a model that was originally designed for the armed forces of the Czech Republic. Thus, the Heritage 1935 is a watch that is characterised by the utmost reliability and sturdiness. The timepieces convince with perfect readability that is typical of a Longines aviation watch. The Heritage 1935 is equipped with large white hands and indices that are coated with Superluminova – a contrasting element that starkly stand out against the matte black dial. Evidently, the year 1935 marks the time in which the Heritage 1935 was introduced. The original model was celebrated with great success when it was initially presented to the market. Not surprisingly, history seemed to repeat itself at Baselworld 2014 when the reinterpreted model was revealed. The current edition remembers its predecessor with a cushion-shaped stainless steel case and a fluted bezel. Furthermore, functionality and simplicity are a top priority when it comes the aviation watch. The Heritage 1935 is fitted with a small seconds subdial at the six o’clock marker, further detailing the refined overall design of the model.

Longines Heritage Military 1938

A Military watch in a 1930s style

The Longines Heritage Military 1938 belongs to the Heritage collection and impresses with an unmistakable 1930s military aura. The reissued military watches convince both in the past and present times with optimal readability. The dial of the watch is paired with large white Arabic numerals and a minute scale with a functional Superluminova finish. Additionally, the crown of the watch is flattened and fluted, which perfectly integrates into the sleek stainless steel case, and is strongly reminiscent of the original models.

The black strap of the watch is complemented by white stitching, creating a high-contrast appeal to the overall design of the Heritage Military 1938. At the heart of the model ticks a mechanical movement, which is well embedded in housing that is reminiscent of its vintage predecessor. The Heritage Military 1938 is presented in three variants – a basic three-hand watch, a GMT function, and a chronograph function. All the Heritage Military 1938 models incorporate the long tradition of the Longines brand and embody the rich heritage of the company that has been going strong for over 180 years.
